The generosity of local residents was in evidence on Saturday 10th May at the food drive held in the Waitrose supermarket in Stevenage Old Town. Customers in the store donated a total of nine full trolleys of food. John Mead said, “Our volunteers were overwhelmed by the amount of donations from Waitrose’s customers. We are experiencing an increasing number of people, particularly families, coming to the food bank as a result of financial hardship. This will help us to replenish our stocks of food. People understand the hardship that others are facing and are ready to support them. It is true that the spirit of kindness is strong in our community.”

Volunteers wished to publicise their thanks to the staff at Waitrose for their help and support throughout the day.
